Dear friend of CCEF,
What a joy to write to you as CCEF’s Executive Director! Over the past few weeks, it has been an encouragement to my heart to receive kind notes, thoughtful encouragement, and hopeful support for CCEF and our mission to restore Christ to counseling and counseling to the local church.
As we step forward into a new season, I’ve been reflecting on the clear and unequivocal need for biblical counseling that is apparent both in the church at large and in my own life. As I reflect on this reality and how the Lord might use us in the years ahead, would you consider a gift to CCEF?
CCEF began almost sixty years ago when two men identified the church’s need to be equipped to shepherd congregants amid their most challenging life issues, keeping the role within Christ’s body rather than giving it over to secular psychology. In our current day, that need is as real as ever.
During the fifteen years I served as a pastor, I saw the needs that were apparent on Sunday mornings and throughout the week: people seeking wisdom on navigating a relationship with an estranged child, advice to give an anxious friend, or hope to offer a woman trapped in an abusive relationship. In my own life, I have felt and continue to feel the daily need for applicable counsel—rich biblical truth that stretches into the fabric of my daily life and presses deeper into my own heart and my relationship with the Lord.
Invariably, as I’ve been in conversations with friends of CCEF about this new position, the question comes up: “So what’s next for CCEF?”
My family and I have decided to step into this role because the need for biblical counseling continues to be a tremendous opportunity for the church, and over the next several years CCEF is positioned to grow in equipping local churches around the world. Our hope and goal is to equip a generation of people for faithful, everyday, one-another ministry.
How exactly will we do that? The answers and opportunities are frankly overwhelming. We need your help, wisdom, and support in discerning which paths the Lord would have us take. The need is clear. The opportunities are many. So as I assume this new role, we will soon enter a period of strategic planning, assisted by an outside firm. My desire is that CCEF grows as a trusted voice in these matters as we seek to bring the treasures of Scripture to the troubles of life.
If you see the same need for bringing rich biblical truth into the very deepest troubles of life, would you consider making a gift today? By doing so, you will take part in helping CCEF bring its historic vision and mission into this next season of fruitful ministry. Your support is not taken lightly; thank you for being a blessing to our team!
With gratitude,
Jonathan D. Holmes
P. S. I believe this strategic planning process has the potential to further CCEF’s rich biblical counseling work by helping us grow in effectively bringing these resources and training to the local church. Would you give a gift today to invest in future years of ministry fruitfulness for the sake of local congregations around the world? Thank you for considering joining us in this exciting time.
