“Homosexuality: Current Thinking and Biblical Guidelines.” Addresses contemporary homosexuality debates and develops a strategy to reach out to homosexuals to urge repentance, faith, and obedience in Christ. We must start with our own repentance from sins that prevent the church from engaging homosexuals in love and truth. The homosexual hermeneutic reinterprets key biblical passages, and we must challenge its distinction between “natural” and “unnatural” homosexuality. We must also challenge the issue of supposed biological causes and the notion that homosexuality arises because of relational deficits with the same-sex parent. All this normalizes homosexuality and the hope of Christ. “Like all sin, homosexuality, at the level of the desires of the heart, does not relent easily or quickly. It is put to death over time in the course of progressive sanctification.” [In 14:3, Elizabeth Moberly and Ed Welch exchange letters about this article.]
