This is part 1 of a 3 part talk: Part 2 | Part 3

It is hard to live in community, and our individualistic culture and self-focus make it more difficult. How can the church make the kingdom of God visible under these circumstances? This workshop will explore how humility, gentleness, and forgiveness can transform God’s people to incarnate Christ to a watching world.

In the first of a three-part talk, Tim Lane develops a theology of community. We all experience a tension between wanting to be self-sufficient and desiring intimacy with others. Christians want increasing intimacy with God but cringe at the idea that other people are a vital part of growth in grace. Lane offers four perspectives that bear on transformational community development and uses Ephesians 5 to encourage the pursuit of personal and communal growth.
