"If life doesn't break your heart at least once a day, I'd say that was a lack of imagination."

Garrison Keillor's wry comment reminds us that we live in a world where suffering is inevitable. The question is, what do we do when it comes?

Christians have two advantages. First, we know that suffering is coming. When Jesus said, "In this world, you will have trouble" (John 16:33), he assured us that we are in God's hands when it does. We don't have to be afraid or ashamed. We can face it head on.

Second, we know that suffering does not have the last word — Jesus does. "Take heart! I have overcome the world." No matter what we face, the purposes and promises of God transform every human experience.

This conference will view both realities form a Christ-centered perspective. Christ overcomes the power of sin and suffering as far as the curse is found — at life's end, but also day by day.

Joni Eareckson Tada will join us to explore what it means to live by faith in times of trouble. As a believer, you need to know how to help others when suffering comes. Even more, you need to see how God uses suffering to glorify Himself and refine His children. Let these truths capture your imagination!
