Parents and counselors often don’t know what to do when children feel inferior, unattractive, or like they don’t fit in. Welch frames these experiences as expressions of shame—something the Bible has much to say about. Through the case study of a young boy struggling in school, Welch invites parents and counselors to see that when we pour our hearts out to the Lord and see ourselves in the stories of Scripture, we (children and adults alike) can break through the cloud of shame.
