Our tendency with addictions is to careen between the heights of optimism and the dark valleys of pessimism. But the New Testament offers a different option. In this audio talk, Mike Emlet encourages us to avoid the extremes of soul-deadening pessimism and over-confident optimism. Instead, Emlet encourages us toward a hope-filled realism grounded in the promise of progressive change as we walk with Jesus Christ. We are hopeful because of Jesus, but we also continue to struggle and groan until we reach our future glory. Emlet covers the dynamics of New Testament groaning in the face of struggles like addiction. He concludes with an encouragement to offer hopeful realism, especially to those struggling with addictive behaviors.
