Journal of Biblical Counseling 9:2
In this article, Charles Jefferson discusses the use of hyperbole in speaking and preaching. He uses examples from Jesus in the Gospels and points to the effectiveness of appropriately-used hyperbole in engaging hearers. Jefferson concludes that Jesus trusted his audience, by contrast, we are often afraid of being misunderstood.
