When we consider the impact of the fall on sex, shame quickly comes into view. Shame comes through things we do, things done to us, or in our associations. In this audio talk, Welch examines Genesis and a world where Adam and Eve are naked and with shame. Shame emerges in images of being naked, outcast, and unclean. The key question throughout Scripture is how will God deal with the shame of his people? Welch traces how the priesthood and sacrificial system point us to the need for a greater priest and a greater sacrifice to deal with our shame. God has established a way of dealing with uncleanness, whether it’s from things you’ve done or things done to you. Jesus answers our shame by associating himself with us and cleansing us.
