Psychiatric Disorders in Children: Childhood was once considered a happy, carefree time of life. Children were not thought to suffer mental or emotional problems and were sheltered from the stresses that adults possessed. Research however, shows that children are suffering more and more from struggles more commonly experienced by adults like depression, phobias, developmental disorders, attention deficit, substance abuse, attachment issues, as well as conduct and anxiety disorders. The reasons and causes are complex; so is the solution. We will attempt to take a broad look at how to think and respond to a growing problem facing our children and young people today.

This lecture is from the 2011 National Conference, “Psychiatric Disorders.” Also available as a DVD curriculum designed to be used individually or in a group setting.
