DSM Primer

DSM Primer: "I don't believe in labels." "I'm so relieved I have a diagnosis… I finally know what's wrong with me." Though we each have different reactions to diagnoses, few can refute the ways the DSM has shaped our language in talking about psychiatric issues. This session will look at how this popular manual can be useful in the proper context, and will explore more specifically how Personality Disorders as a construct both benefits from and challenges our attempts at classification.
