In this audio talk, John Bettler argues that Jesus came to redeem evil, twisted, broken hearts. All of us struggle with anger, though it takes a variety of forms. Mark 9:14-29 gives us an account of Jesus’s redemption of a demon-possessed boy – the story gives us insight into how Christ works in our hearts. Whenever theology is not informed by the issues of life, theology becomes an abomination (cf. the book of James) – we seek to have our theological knowledge inform our response to real people. Faith is what we need to redeem our anger – the prayer of faith is the way we connect with the Redeemer of our anger. Jesus doesn’t want to teach anger management skills, He wants to change your heart – something that only Jesus can redeem.
