Adoption raises many questions. How do we encourage parents and children as they wrestle with the story God has written for them? In this audio talk, Julie (Smith) Lowe examines the major themes present in the lives of adopted children and adoptive parents. She maintains that there is no one way for children to react to being adopted: some may not struggle with adoptive issues, some may only struggle with one aspect, and others may struggle greatly. Lowe discusses understanding what’s broken and explores some of the identity issues adoptive children may struggle with. She concludes with guidance for parents to help their adopted child tell their story.
