The Self-Irrigating Christian

Journal of Biblical Counseling 22:2

In this article, William Farley presents the illustration of grapevines, some which have tap roots that go deep into the ground to find water for survival. Likewise, Farley argues, Christians can develop spiritual tap roots that by-pass temporary life problems and seek the deep flowing river of God’s sovereignty and goodness. Farley concludes that, unless there is a yearning within us for that which is eternal, we shall turn to that which is temporal for sustenance when the day of trouble comes.
