In this article, George Scipione discusses his experience as a presenter for a public school in-service for teachers, The Regional Self-Esteem conference held in Show Low, Arizona. Scipione shares some of the philosophical roots of the self-esteem movement including the Enlightenment, Hegel, Schleiermacher, Rousseau, Dewey and Rogers. He concludes his article with guidance for biblical counselors as they seek to understand the foundations of the modern self-esteem movement.
