In this article, W.S. Hyland argues that insurance is not healthy for God’s kingdom and argues that worldly practices are often incorporated into the life of the church, with detrimental effects. Hyland discusses the development of modern insurance. He presents the idea that the church is called to fulfill its responsibilities to members via the diaconate and that they are too often outsourced to insurance policies.
