In this article, Jay Adams discusses the pessimism that often prevails in Christians who take seriously the problem of indwelling sin. Adams argues that Romans, which teaches on indwelling sin, also abounds in hope for change by the power of the Spirit. Adams concludes, “We must always maintain both facts: there is great potential in Christ for living righteously, but there is great struggle with a body that continues to follow the old ways.”
