Position in Preaching

Journal of Biblical Counseling 8:2

In this article, Jay Adams examines what position the preacher should take as they preach. He lays out the roles of a spectator (an outsider looking in on what is happening), a recipient (one who identifies himself with those receiving truth) and herald (a position of authority speaking to the people on behalf of God). Adams argues that the herald position is the default for pastors as those who preach not about the Bible but from the Bible.
