Part 1 of a 3 part series. In this series, Woodrow Wendling provides basic information about pharmacology, drugs of abuse, prescription and over the counter (OTC) drugs that every Christian counselor should have at hand. In this first article, Wendling introduces basic definitions of drugs of abuse, prescribed drugs, over-the-counter drugs and national drugs. He concludes with a discussion of seven practical guidelines for working with counselees in light of these drug categories and how to conduct an accurate assessment.
