Occasional Preaching

Journal of Biblical Counseling 8:1

In this article, Jay Adams uses the case of John Chrysostom and the fall of Eutropius to illustrate the idea of occasional preaching. Adams argues that pastors should be willing to preach about every day affairs through an expository stance aimed at the people to whom they are speaking. He concludes that significant occasions warrant biblical expository sermons that speak to the situation and to the people.
