In this article, David Powlison argues that God wired human beings so that we experience pleasure, but sin scrambles the wires and pleasure becomes a god we worship. He maintains that the deepest and most significant reference point for our problems is always moral—we are made to love God and neighbor. Powlison concludes that the restoration and purification of pleasure comes through the work of the Holy Spirit.
