Patten maintains that God is “the Father of mercies and the God of all encouragement.” She examines the account of Barnabas, the “Son of Encouragement,” and how he found ways to show encouragement to other members of the early church. Patten concludes that, if you have a personal relationship with Christ, you have resources to be an encourager too.
