In this article, David Powlison presents his own conviction that theological seminary education helps to develop a robust understanding of counseling ministry. Powlison argues that a good education in counseling goes hand-in-hand with a good education in Bible and theology. Learning to think about life biblically is of critical importance in counseling because counseling is ultimately a theological matter. Powlison presents the pros (and a few cons) of learning counseling alongside the other ingredients in the cure of souls.
