Steven Jacobs (the author of “A Theological Overview”) writes to clarify his position and to answer the rebuttal to his views given by Milton Fisher in JPP 2:1. Jacobs offers clarification of the Jewish position concerning the need for sacrifice, its relationship to prayer, repentance, good deeds and the idea of substitutionary atonement.
