Panic Attacks: Listen to the Messenger

Journal of Biblical Counseling 24:2

In this article, Chuck Sigler argues that in contemporary culture medication is often a first response to panic attacks. However, Sigler encourages us to “listen to the messenger” (the symptoms of panic attack) to help understand what happens when a person has a panic attack. He suggests that we biblically frame panic attacks and intervene in the fear. In many cases, medication is not the answer. Sigler concludes that the person who experiences panic attacks must develop their relationship with the God who replaces fear with His own love.
