Ed Payne

Christians and Alternative Medicine

Journal of Biblical Counseling 12:2

In this article, Franklin Payne evaluates both mainstream “orthodox” medicine and “alternative” medicine. Payne argues that there are no therapies that can be substantively defended from the Bible other than specifically spiritual means (prayer, Bible study, fellowship, communion, etc.). Payne concludes by noting that, “Too many Christians have looked for escape in modern medicine, alternative therapies, and even miraculous healing, instead of accepting that God’s design for their lives is their illness.”
