Jefferey S. Forrey

Biblical Counsel for Concerned Singles

Journal of Biblical Counseling 14:3

In this article, Jeffery Forrey discusses three questions that singles commonly raise and that counselors should be familiar with. First, “How do I deal with loneliness?” Forrey argues that proper relationships to Christ, the church and friends are crucial. Second, “Should I seek a spouse? Or, how do I learn contentment?” Forrey gives guidelines for thinking whether one has the gift of singleness and notes that it is always appropriate to learn contentment rather than complaining. Third, “How do I find a spouse?” Forrey looks at where, whom and how a person should seek a spouse. He concludes with 4 examples of how not to answer the questions that singles raise.
