In this audio talk, Ed Welch focuses specifically on a violent husband and a victimized wife. Welch covers four main points in this workshop: 1.) Understand the victim – realize that oftentimes, anger in the home is under-reported or minimized – Welch and Juliani cover common experiences of victims of abuse; 2.) Stay safe – the Christian community must be involved and help comes with a long-term view – Welch and Juliani discusses questions and dynamics for churches and church leaders to consider when facing situations of abuse; 3.) Facing facts and believing the promise of God – God offers the unexpected gift of Himself in difficult situations; and 4.) Speaking the truth in love. We live in an era where the Kingdom of God is expanding and, through the Spirit’s power, hope and change is possible in the darkness of abuse.
