Fall 2016
Dear CCEF conference attendees,
Welcome to a conference on… emotions. Oddly enough, this is an unusual topic for a Christian conference! It shouldn’t be. God made you to feel just as surely as he made you to think and to act. A human being is the whole package. And in Scripture, God speaks to your emotional life just as pointedly as he speaks to your thought life and choices. Your Father renews the whole person.
Emotions fill our lives with color and energy. Yes, our sinful tendency is to either indulge or suppress feeling. We let loose and get turbulent. Or we get a grip and go rigid. But Jesus leads in a different direction. For example, the psalms are a symphony that combines honest experience, and careful thinking, and energetic action, and complex, entirely appropriate emotions. Jesus lives that symphony. He teaches us to do the same.
Please pray for God to pour his Holy Spirit upon each person who attends and each person who teaches or serves. May we all grow up into the full-orbed, honest humanness of Jesus Christ!
Our Events team has put together a list of important details below to help prepare you for the conference. Please read them carefully, and send any questions you may have to [email protected].
See you soon,
David Powlison
