2019 Annual Report
A Letter from the Executive Director
Dear friends,
David Powlison once said that he was thankful that we at CCEF are dependent on the kindness of God’s people for our ability to do ministry. What easily feels like a weakness—the need to raise funds rather than bringing in all our financial resources by providing counseling, classes, and resources—David rightly saw as a strength. Dependence on you holds us accountable to brothers and sisters who will evaluate the fruit of our ministry as you taste it in your own lives and see it in the lives of those around you. I, too, see this form of God’s provision as a great strength.
I am so thankful for the fruits God has brought to full ripeness in the past year and want to share a sampling of those fruits with you: We taught the first online cohort of Darby Strickland’s course on ministry with abusive marriages, a project we’ve been carefully developing for years. CCEF authors published more books than in the previous four years combined. We continued to offer a hundred hours of counseling each week. On top of all this, our small but dedicated staff carried out the thousand weekly tasks and special projects needed to keep CCEF’s ministry effectively serving the body of Christ around the globe. This includes supporting over a thousand students in dozens of courses; working with French and Russian organizations to translate our resources; filming new classes; editing blogs, videos, podcasts, and articles; publishing three issues of the Journal of Biblical Counseling; seeking to stay in meaningful contact with our donors; keeping our building safe and welcoming, and so on.
In short, when you gave to CCEF, you invested in the people at CCEF who make ministry possible. And all this in a year in which the Lord took our big brother David home. Each one of you has played a vital role allowing us to sustain this work. We are in your debt in the Lord, and we see and feel each day that it is only because of his love to us through you that any of what we do can stand or grow.
