2011-2012 Interns

The Internship is the core experience of the CCEF training program. Classroom instruction combined with actual counseling allows our interns to experience the grace of God working in the lives of their counselees. Interns have access to the CCEF community to help them interpret, understand, and apply what they have learned to their counseling cases. To enrich the impact of our program, each intern is personally and professionally mentored by a faculty member, providing a unique experience that will anchor them in their own faith and growth, even as they learn to help others.

Jessica Balser
Jess Balser is originally from Ohio, where she studied nursing before receiving her MDiv in Counseling degree from Westminster this past spring. She grew in her passion for counseling through working as a camp counselor, and later as a psychiatric nurse. Jess desires to continue using nursing to love and care for people and to intentionally walk alongside those the Lord brings into her life. She currently attends Chelten Baptist Church and is greatly blessed by her small group. Jess loves watching and playing any kind of sport, reading (or sometimes just collecting books to read), and drinking coffee, especially over good conversation.

Bonnie Currie
Bonnie Currie worked as a high school history teacher and basketball coach in Athens, Georgia, before moving to Philadelphia with her husband Chris in 2008. Chris started the M.Div. program at Westminster in 2008, and Bonnie started work on her Masters in Biblical Counseling in 2009. The introduction of Reformed Theology and the lack of sound biblical counsel in the South led he and his family to Westminster Theological Seminary and CCEF to pursue a Masters degree in Biblical Counseling. Chase, his wife, Martha and their three children, Mary Hayes, Lizzie, and Charlie are members of Madison Heights Church PCA in Madison, Mississippi, where Chase serves as a deacon. Presently, they are active associate members of Cresheim Valley Church in Chestnut Hill. She is completing an MA in Biblical Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary. Jamie worked with the C&MA for five years, equipping leaders in the local church. Knowing God’s sweet pursuit of her own heart, she desires to help others see and know the hope we have in Christ. Jamie loves to hear people’s stories, especially around her kitchen table while stuffing them with food (she learned well from her mother and mother-in-law!). Tom and Jamie have been married for eight years, during which Tom’s love for travel has rubbed off on Jamie, giving her a love for adventures in different parts of the world.
