There are over 90,000 reported cases of child sexual abuse per year in the US. In the last ten years there has been an average of 70 child abuse allegations in American churches every week. Many who sit in our pews have suffered greatly as a result. It is critical that pastors and counselors understand the impact of sexual abuse on a life and know how to respond redemptively to those who are suffering.
Self-deception is a necessary component to maintaining an addiction. It also characterizes every human heart. This elective will focus on understanding the mechanism of self-deception and how it works in the service of an addiction, as well as other sinful behaviors.
